Me. Okay, Dik. How long have you been writing? When did you start writing?
Dik- Since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I wrote on the wall next to my crib when I was an infant. Some of my best writing.
Me- And do you remember what it was you were writing?
Dik- It was mostly expressionistic. But I can look back and realize where so many of my tendencies came from. It was evident there from the beginning.
Me- And what is that tendency? Or those tendencies?
Dik-Fabrication. To use a word.
Me-You mean fabricating in the sense of lying.
Dik-I’d rather not use the participle if you don’t mind. And I don’t choose to call it lying. Or if I do it’s not a bad thing.
Me- So, a lot of what you write is lying in the good sense of the word.
Dik-In the best sense, at least I try. Some lies, some truth, so called, but the so-called truth might be more of a lie or fabrication then the so-called lies. So it doesn’t matter, really. It comes together in the end.
Me- Does that ever result in confusion on the part of your readers?
Dik- Probably.
Me- Does that concern you?
Dik- No.
